History

During a meeting in July 2008, Cosmas, a social worker at Nice View, told me about his daughter Alpha Daniella because he needed some advice. Due to changes with his wife's family situation, (they were divorced) it had become necessary for him to take care of his three-year-old daughter, who had lived with her mother until then. As a single father he had to make this new situation work. I recognised his difficult situation at once and I thought about whether it was possible to adopt the girl at Nice View. Within the scope of his tasks, Cosmas cares for the well-being of the Nice View children in many respects and I realised that he wished his daughter to receive such care. At Nice View, staff workers do not only get payed in cash and kind but they also receive other benefits like for example the privilege that their own children are allowed to visit the Nice View kindergarten or the school. I presented Alpha Danielle's case to the other staff members to find out whether they agreed that Cosmas should receive this benefit. This was the case: All staff members unanimously agreed to help Cosmas immediately and to bring Alpha Daniella to Nice View. We suited the action to the word and brought Alpha Daniella to Nice View on August 30, 2008. Alpha Daniella is a healthy, normally developed child who felt at home at Nice View immediately. Due to the contact to other Nice View children and the numerous offers in the children's village, she now has better chances in live than she had in her previous home.

Career

July 2009: Daniella has settled in quite fast. She is an intelligent, smart and sporting child; loves to dance and sing. Her English is already pretty good, and she gets on well at kindergarten. She has lots of charm and it is difficult to be angry with her.
