FATHER: JEONES OCHIENG OTAYA
MOTHER: CAREN ANYANGO
Daniel is the second born in a family of 6 children. Their first born is learning in Form 3 in Siaya County.
Daniel’s father died in 1999 when he was two years old. His mother was inherited by the brother in-law as their customs permit. They lived together sired 4 children but separated with Daniel’s mother in 2009. Since then, all the family’s responsibilities were left to the mother (single parent). The mother sells chapatis (pancakes) where she gets money to fend for the family. Being a small business, barely does she make a sustainable profit to provide the basic needs to her children. With this little money and a lot of responsibilities, it is too difficult for her to take children to better school.
After assessing Daniel in academic work, he definitely has the potentials to excel in academics.
Daniel finished the Nice View Gratitude Academy end of 2014 with a very good result (376 A-) and attends since beginning of 2015 a secondary school.
The results 2015 (form 1/class 9): A-/B/B-
Since for the children from outside, mostly from Slum Bangladesh in Mombasa, almost no donations were received and the donations amount in general declined, we had to terminate the support of Daniel end of 2016.
Also in respect that for more and more children of the children’s home the secondary school, the university or the college needs to be financed and not to endanger other sub-projects, this decision was inevitable.
