On June 4, Nice View received a call from the Youth Welfare Office requesting that an approximately 3-month-old twin couple be accepted in Nice View. The mother had died at birth. The father, with whom the mother was not married, keeps himself afloat as a laborer. The babies were housed with the grandmother, who also has to care for the 3 older siblings and other grandchildren. The grandmother is also no longer the youngest, the grandfather has an alcohol problem. The older siblings never went to school because the money is missing at every turn. Also for baby food.
Therefore, the two hungry, dirty and neglected twins were taken to Nice View that same evening. The other children have chosen the names Liam and Eliana, and sponsorships can now be taken over for them. General information about sponsorships can be found here.
The next day we went to the examination in the Nice View clinic. There was a bacterial infection and anemia found, which are now being treated. According to the grandmother, Liam also had to be taken to the hospital once with lung problems. Nice View will follow-up on this, but we assume Liam is healthy. Eliana weighed 2.6 kg at birth and 3.9 kg on June 5, Liam 2.5 and 3.7 kg, respectively. They will certainly gain weight quickly.
We are happy about the offspring in the children's village and thank all who make this possible!
July 2019: The twins have developed splendidly in the last few weeks. Since the team in Kenya did not want to separate them, they are now for the time being together in a room in the boys house. However, they are quite active at night and thus disturb the general night's sleep. Later they will move to the girls house, which is more central located and currently being renovated.
