History

Kahindi now looks very happy. This was not always the case. In the streets of Kwale, he possibly would face a very different life with his mentally handicapped mother. But he almost has forgotten his bad experiences with people who were not really interested in him. In May 2000, he came to Nice View and gets everything he needs: a loving care, healthy food, education, hope, enjoyment and a perspective for his future.

Since September 2001, he goes to a private kindergarten. There he is prepared for school. Kahindi goes to school since January 2005 and is now in the third form. We are still a little worried about his school performance, but he struggles along. However, it would be better if there would be a remedial class for him, or if we could teach the children with private tutors. We really would like to specifically advance children like Kahindi that have didactic problems. Kahindi is very athletically and enjoys playing with cars. There is no contact to his mother anymore.

Career

July 2008: Kahindi has surprised us with quite good school achievements. We are convinced that now in our own school, he can improve even more thanks to individual care. In addition, you can realize that, since he has changed schools, he is also considerably more communicative and more self-confident. He preferably spends his weekends together with Pascal at the lake (Nice View Farm). It is a pity that Francis and Haji can join them that rarely. They go to school on Saturdays, and on Sundays they are often doing homework. Our Nice View school is closed on Saturdays and there is no homework over the weekends.

July 2009: To our big surprise our quiet Kahindi is now often the leader if our boys do something. However, he is still a nice guy and where on earth will you find boys that do not behave mischievously from time to time? He is now in class 4 and we assume that he will be in class 5 after the summer holidays.

November 2010: Kahindi was almost not moved up into the next class (class 6). But on the other hand he has other strengths. He can draw very well, and presents almost every day new drawings. Furthermore, he painted the wolf on the wall in the girls’ house by himself. He is a good and enthusiastic dancer, plays in the Nice View football team and is one of the yellow belt wearer (Taekwondo).
