The Sauti Kuu Foundation and the Nice View Trust Foundation were once again able to celebrate their collaboration and strong partnership when Dr Auma Obama, Director of the Sauti Kuu Foundation and Patron of the Nice View Trust Foundation, together with Akinyi Obama-Manners, Sauti Kuu Media and Communications Manager, visited Gudrun Dürr and the children at the Nice View Children’s Village.
Dr Obama took the time to teach swimming to the children, the mamas, and the teachers. Although initially unable to swim and afraid of water, almost all who participated in the lessons were able to swim within just one week. Some even learned to dive.
In addition to teaching swimming Dr Obama, supported by Akinyi, also conducted a knowledge exchange workshop with the mamas and the teachers. The Training of Trainers session highlighted best teaching practices, in which Dr Obama shared insights on Sauti Kuu's approach to unlocking the potential of children and youth. The participants explored how to adapt these practices at Nice View.
Akinyi also led a creative collage workshop with the children. This session allowed the children to express their creative ideas and emotions through art.
Reflecting on the visit, Dr Obama stated: "I was so happy to finally return to Nice View after being away for so long! It was the perfect mix of work and fun—spending my days relaxing in the beautiful Paradise Gardens and reconnecting with the amazing Nice View family. I had the pleasure of hosting a staff forum, teaching swimming to children, teachers, and mamas, and leading a workshop on essential skills like respect, trust, and commitment. The highlight of my visit was joining the Nice View family for the Saturday Night Family Dinner. We enjoyed delicious meals, watched fun performances by the children, and danced to great music.
