from Matthias Braun (new 1st board member):
Dear friends and sponsors,
Having been in office for over two months now, it is time to introduce ourselves, the new board of the support association Projekt Schwarz-Weiss e.V., which was founded in October 1997.
After more than 10 years of successful work by the former board member Martina Domke (1st board) and after more than 6 years by Mr. Michael Eippner (2nd board) of the association, this was passed at this year's general meeting on October 15, 2023 and we were elected as the new board been.
Thank you for the trust you have placed in us and on behalf of all members a big thank you to Martina Domke and Michael Eipper for their years of support on the board.
We are Christoph Kast (2nd board) and I, Matthias Braun (1st board).
Marcel Dürr should be known to everyone. He has been there from the beginning, was 17 years old when Gudrun Dürr left for Kenya, and has been a successful member of the board for over 20 years. One of the very important heads of the association Projekt Schwarz-Weiß e.V.
Christoph Kast, who lives in Ingstetten near Roggenburg and has been an avowed Nice-View supporter and sponsor of the club for many years. He was in the Nice View projects in Kenya for the first time in 2006 and has been on site almost every year in recent years. Out of conviction in the overall concept and the successful development of many children, he decided to take over the position as second board member.
Matthias Braun, who lives in Meddewade between Hamburg and Lübeck (that's in the very north of our wonderful country), is married and traveled to Kenya / Msambweni for the first time in 2017.
It must have been late fall 2016 when my youngest offspring, Noah, talked about his dream the previous night in which we had traveled to Kenya together. About a week later, sitting at the dinner table, I carelessly asked my family if we actually wanted to travel to the African continent.
And, as I could have guessed, it was greeted with enthusiasm. In the summer of 2017 the time had come. We were able to get to know and love Kenya.
Just a year later we traveled to Kenya again and looked at various projects in Kenya.
We were particularly impressed with the Nice View Children's Village right from the start. From the very first moment we were impressed by the loving treatment of the children and the harmonious coexistence of everyone in the Nice View Children's Village
What “Mama Gudrun”, her family and her entire team have built and created here since 1997 simply leaves you speechless.
What an impressive, admirable project. I have the greatest respect for what you have achieved!
We have visited the Nice View projects again and again over the last few years and decided in early summer 2021 to go to Msambweni on the Kenyan east coast for a good eight weeks and to get a little involved there.
A visit lasting several weeks in autumn 2021 showed us that even this small amount of support was fruitful and we learn again and again how wonderful it is to see with how little you can achieve so much here.
All of this is the reason why I want to do more for the club and why I have now taken this step.
I am now looking forward to the work ahead of me as first board member of “Project Schwarz-Weiss e.V.” and to being able to continue to be a small part of the family in the future.
Kind regards from Meddewade,
Matthias Braun
