Dr. Jana Huttenlau (dentist) visited us this year with the team from the MKK mit Herz organization and with the support of Dentists for Africa.
All the Nice View children were examined and treated as needed. Our staff and other patients from Msambweni and the surrounding area were also treated. Fillings were done and teeth were cleaned. Some teeth also had to be extracted. The treatments took place at the Nice View Medical Center.
Learners from Nice View Gratitude Academy marked Mazingira Day with great enthusiasm by planting trees, collecting litter, and raising awareness on environmental care.
Due to climate change, the "makuti roofs" need to be replaced more and more frequently. Roof repairs were urgently needed, and with the support of RTL - Wir helfen Kindern (RTL - We Help Children) in the amount of €5,000, we started the renovation and conversion into a parents'/family home.
Since all students, teachers, and staff at the children's village receive lunch every day, 35 kg of rice is cooked on a wood-burning stove on school days when rice is on the menu.
Every Monday and Friday, the school day begins with an assembly. Since physical education is also on the schedule on these days, students wear sports clothes instead of school uniforms.
In the morning, the children gathered for a church Sunday school session. They creatively put together a 'wordless book' where they made a book with different colours and each colour represented something. It was so interesting.
Today at Nice View, we enjoyed a beautiful and engaging art session where we painted the inside of coconut shells! The children absolutely loved it their excitement and creativity were shining -through every brushstroke.
