German Medical Team Visits the Nice View Clinic

At the beginning of last December, Horst Brenneis, an urologist from Pirmasens, Germany, and his team of 11 spent two days in the Nice View clinic. For many years the physicians, nurses and assistants have carried out operations in the SOS Children's Village BuruBuru in Nairobi and other locations in the context of a help project. This time, the medics also stopped off in Nice View.

We had been in contact before the team's arrival and found patients who needed surgery. When the day came, all staff members were proud that our exemplary surgery room was finally put to use. The first patient was Q, a boy from Nice View. He had suffered from congenital hernia for a long time. WW also had a hernia surgery.

The medical team came with modern equipment. We had been able to borrow an anaesthesia device from the county hospital and the staff who brought it received free training. Unfortunately, we can't afford our own anaesthesia device yet.

A total of 11 larger operations were carried out, particularly hernia operations, as well as circumcisions of boys using a new technique.

More than 50 patients had their eyes examined by the specialist who accompanied the German team. Many of them directly got suitable glasses.

A heartfelt thank you to Horst Brenneis and his colleagues!
