Merry Christmas and a good start into the New Year!

Dear sponsors, supporters and friends,

As 2018 is coming to an end

we are grateful that – in accordance with the founding ideals we developed 22 years ago – the Nice View projects have been brought closer to their goal of helping people towards a better future. After more than two decades, the tireless commitment of the founders has not lost momentum. Given the fact that conditions and regulations change frequently, it can be quite difficult to persevere in an African developing country. Unexpected repairs, realignments of the course as well as tact and sensitivity when dealing with employees – this can only be achieved if the team is fully committed. The hot and humid air, heavy rainfalls, diseases, tough roads, constantly increasing costs of living and a widespread corruption that hampers any progress are only some of the challenges we have – fortunately – been able to cope with very well in the past.

Nevertheless, although visitors to Nice View are astonished by the vast commitment of those responsible for the projects, we would not have been able to change anything in Kenya without your support. Thanks to your help we can provide direct assistance in the country. ASANTE SANA!

In this way, it was possible to ensure medical operation by quickly restoring the water supply after flying sparks had caused a fire on the clinic premises in February. By some miracle, no-one was injured seriously. While in 2017 approximately 4,500 people had been treated in the Nice View clinic, the first half of 2018 already accounted for 3,000 patients. In August ultrasound examinations have been added to our range of available treatments. Currently, we are considering to buy an ambulance and an anaesthesia device to offer improved medical care to people in and around Msambweni.

A house made of sand-filled plastic bottles attracted a Kenyan TV channel to Nice View. KTN broadcasted a documentary on the children's village. The children here learn a lot about the protection of our environment, for example during rubbish collection activities that teach them good lessons.

One of the first girls who came to us in 2000 has spent a year in Germany as an Au Pair and is now training to be a nurse in a German hospital. There is great hope that one day, the Nice View clinic will benefit from the young woman's skills. Many children have moved on to secondary schools some of which are very far from Msambweni. In the holidays, they all return to their family in Nice View.

Container no. 20 reached Mombasa with some delay and took nice school furniture, valuable spare parts and many other useful supplies to Nice View where everything was cheerfully welcomed.

Our tailor shop has received a first small order from Europe. We hope that this will turn into a sustainable source of income over time.

Some sponsors, supporters and friends have visited the Nice View projects and experienced the association's work live on site. Anyone travelling to Kenya is welcome to visit us at Nice View! Please contact us if you are interested. Msambweni is approximately 60 km south of Mombasa and 30 km south of Diani Beach. We will be happy to organize a taxi for you.

Our new web site www.kenia-hilfe.com should go live within shortly. We look forward to your online visit! We are also active on Facebook and hope for many likes that will spread the project and the idea of helping people in need. Don't hesitate to contact us if you need brochures or information material to display on your family gathering or similar event.

You will find our new privacy policy on https://www.kenia-hilfe.com/de/datenschutz. We treat your data with utmost care. If you wish to cease receiving mail from us please send an e-mail to info@kenia-hilfe.com or a letter to the above address and request your data to be deleted.

Dear sponsors, supporters and friends, we hope that you will continue helping us in 2019. Thank you on behalf of all the children, the Kenyan staff, the association as well as the Dürr family! ASANTE SANA! It is good to have people like you at our side.

We wish you a joyful and blessed Christmas and all the best for the year to come, especially health and happiness!

With warm regards from Roggenburg,

Your team of Projekt Schwarz-Weiß
