Over the last few weeks and months, we have been able to expand our range of services.
We hired a doctor who works part-time to support our Clinical Officers (who have more authority than the nurses and may also provide obstetric care) as well as the nursing staff.

There are several children with special needs living in the Nice View Children's Village and Gudrun Dürr is committed to providing special support for these children.

Fortunately, the corona virus has not yet spread to Msambweni on the South Coast of Kenya, where the children's village is located. However, the children are still in isolation in the children's village and the schools might not reopen before the end of the year.
With the small hospital built and equipped according to European standards we aim to provide reliable medical care for the people living in one of the poorest regions in Kenya.
Since we would like to expand the range of services offered by the clinic, it would be great if we could offer accommodation to doctors who are on standby or doctors who support us in Kenya. Therefore we would like to finish their accommodation possibility.

Mshila is currently at home for 6 weeks. The tendon was successfully repaired and the skin transplanted. In the meantime, a plate has already been inserted and bones have been wired (pieces of bone are missing).
The corona virus has unfortunately also reached Kenya. The government responded immediately. Schools, universities, hotels, restaurants, etc. are closed and the distance rule applies.

After the surgery in Nairobi, Mshila's wound was treated with vacuum sealing for 8 days – originally a 3-day treatment was prescribed, then another 5 days were added. Today the wound looks quite good, but another skin graft as well as a tendon repair will be necessary.
